Choosing the right wedding band

Choosing the right wedding band is a big and important decision for every couple, but it’s often an especially daunting task for men. For many men, their wedding band might be the only piece of jewellery they’ve ever really bought for themselves, and it’s sometimes the only piece of jewellery that they will ever wear!

But even for men who might consider themselves experts at buying jewellery, and know exactly what they like and don’t like - choosing a wedding band can still be tricky. The wedding ring is an item they are going to be wearing every single day. This means that their ring needs to be practical and functional but it also needs to suit the man’s individual style, and be something that he’s happy and comfortable to look at all day, every day.

Finding the ring that fits all of this criteria can be tricky, so we’ve made a guide to finding the perfect men’s wedding band, with some hints, ideas and inspiration from our own beautiful collection of wedding bands. Hopefully, this will help make the job a little bit easier!

Choosing a ring - the basics

It’s so important when buying any piece of jewellery to ask yourself: what do I actually like?

It might seem like an obvious place to start, but sometimes when you start shopping for men’s wedding rings and looking at all the different styles and options available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and pick something that doesn’t really suit you at all. Remember that there is no point buying something if it’s not right for you, you’re the one who’ll have to wear it every day!

So give yourself the time and space to think about the kind of ring you’d be happy to wear for the rest of your life.

There are lots of different styles and design options to choose from, so do your research and try to work out what you like the look of, and what suits your needs best. Think about what you often wear, and what your general style is like:

  • are you a casual or more formal dresser?
  • what colours look best on you?
  • do you work in a physical job where a more delicate ring might get damaged?
  • Consider all of these factors to narrow down the ring styles that are going to work for you
